For those of you who don’t know, Guy Sebastian is an Australian artist who began his music career back in 2003 as the first winner of the inaugural Australian Idol.
He has since gone on to take Australia by storm, releasing seven Top 10 albums. Two albums have reached number 1 on the ARIA charts, while 12 of his singles have reached Top 10 with six of them reaching number 1.
Sebastian has six multi-platinum singles, including Battle Scars, which he wrote and performed with US rapper, Lupe Fiasco.
While Battle Scars debuted at number one on the ARIA charts, it also did well in the US, reaching number 71 on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts, number 23 on the Digital Song Chart, and number 1 on the R&B/Hip Hop chart (though in all fairness, I’m sure that isn’t a big list).
Well Guy Sebastian has released another winner.
Get Along tackles the massive damage inflicted by religious, cultural and racial intolerance.
Sebastian says he wrote the song in the lead up to the birth of his first child, when he began questioning what kind of world his son would grow up in.
All I can say is WOW!
Guy Sebastian is definitely no One Hit Wonder. I’m convinced he’s here for the long haul. And if he keeps producing songs like this, he’ll have a long term fan in me.
